FERNIE

Originally incorporated in 1904, the town features an eclectic mix of architecture and housing types as diverse as the residents. From the “miner shack” type homes found in the Downtown and Annex, to the 1970 -80’s split levels in the Airport and Ridgemont, to the funky rural type properties of West Fernie, expect to find a little bit of everything.

FERNIE ALPINE RESORT

Located 5 kms to the south of the town of Fernie, the resort boasts impressive snowfall and some of the best skiing in North America. Originally built in 1962, with the first on hill accommodation opening its doors in 1970, the resort features properties of sizes and price ranges. There are larger detached homes, ski in/ski out condos of all sizes and ¼ share ownership options available. Sleep where you ski.

FERNIE RURAL

There is no brush broad enough to paint all of the areas in Fernie Rural. Hosmer to the north of the city features small parcels of rural property centered around an old roadhouse/bar.

SOUTH COUNTRY

To the south the towns of Elko, Jaffary and Galloway offer more rural type properties and many lake front homes. Many people prefer the milder climate of the “South Country” compared to the heavy snowfall and long winters of the Fernie area.
